Former Regulators Urge Lighter Touch on Crypto Rules

Share

A bipartisan group of former SEC and CFTC officials has urged regulators to adopt a lighter touch when writing rules for the $2.5 trillion crypto market.

The group, which includes former CFTC Chairman Chris Giancarlo and former SEC Commissioner Steven Wallman, argues that similar risks deserve similar treatment under federal regulation.

In a comment letter sponsored by prediction market platform Kalshi, the signatories warn that miscalibrated rules continue to drive trading overseas, where lucrative markets are worth an estimated $90 trillion in 2025.
