Former Ripple Employee Sounds Alarm on Superintelligent AI Risk

Ripple's past connection to a prominent AI researcher has resurfaced after Evan Hubinger, who now leads Anthropic's Alignment stress-testing team, predicted a high chance of human extinction within a decade due to superintelligent AI.

Hubinger's LinkedIn profile reveals that he worked at Ripple while still in school, where he contributed to designing Interledger, a trustless system for cross-currency transactions between arbitrary agents. He also developed a tool for cryptographically secure wallets for financial institutions and helped build the rippled server software powering parts of the XRP Ledger.

The XRP price remains lower than its January 2018 high, despite Ripple's significant valuation and backing from corporate XRP holdings.
