Former SEC Chairman Confirmed as New Head of U.S. Intelligence
Jay Clayton, the former chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has been confirmed as the ninth Director of National Intelligence (DNI) in a 51-47 party-line vote by the Senate.
This move marks a significant shift for Clayton, who previously led the SEC during the agency's lawsuit against Ripple Labs over XRP sales. The complaint alleged that $1.3 billion worth of unregistered securities were sold through XRP transactions.
Clayton left the SEC in 2020, but the enforcement action continued under his successor, Gary Gensler. In a surprising turn, Clayton emerged victorious from the legal battle as Ripple Labs won the case against the SEC.
