Fortitude Expands in Nebraska with Low-Cost Mining Facility Acquisition
Fortitude, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group focused on Zcash mining, has acquired a significant stake in Nebraska's energy landscape. The company purchased a 12.5-megawatt mining facility in Prosser, Nebraska, for approximately $4.7 million.
The acquisition is expected to reduce Fortitude's cost to mine ZEC (Zcash) to around $40 per coin, making it a crucial strategic move in the face of fluctuating digital asset prices.
Nebraska's low electricity rates and favorable regulatory environment make it an attractive location for energy-intensive mining operations. The state's relatively low electricity rate of $0.045 per kilowatt-hour underpins Fortitude's projected cost reduction.
