Fortitude Surpasses 60 MW in Zcash Mining, Eyes Public Listing
Barry Silbert's Fortitude has reached a significant milestone in its Zcash mining operations. The company has acquired enough power to surpass 60 MW, pushing its total owned power portfolio beyond this threshold.
This deal, valued at approximately $4.7 million, further solidifies DCG's industrial foundation for mining Zcash (ZEC). Silbert openly declares that financial privacy is a fundamental right and considers it his next 'large asymmetric bet' in the crypto industry.
The focus on Zcash may seem unconventional to most market participants, but Fortitude sees it as pure mathematics. By concentrating its facilities in Nebraska, the company can take advantage of lower electricity costs, with an electricity rate of around $0.045 per kWh.
This strategy allows Fortitude to reduce its direct cost of mining one ZEC by 40% to $40 per coin. With a contract worth $31.5 million for 9,000 Antminer Z15 Pro miners from Bitmain, the company's share of Zcash mining will exceed 28%.
