A Coinbase software engineer has created an open-source project that simulates the neural connectivity of a fruit fly's brain to trade Bitcoin.

The project, called 'Stonkfly,' uses a dataset mapping the brain and ventral nerve cord connections of an adult male fruit fly to generate buy, sell, or hold decisions based on market data.

Developed by Alex Warmoth, Stonkfly incorporates approximately 166,700 neurons and roughly 25.6 million synaptic connections, and is built on top of the 'MaleCNS v1.0' dataset.

The simulation views candlestick charts on a 320x180 resolution screen spanning both eyes, with raw RGB pixel values received by simulated photoreceptor cells instead of price data.
