Fruit Fly Brain Trades Bitcoin on Coinbase

A neural network based on the nervous system of a fruit fly has been successfully wired to trade Bitcoin on Coinbase. The project, called Stonkfly, uses a wiring diagram of a fruit fly's entire nervous system, with 166,700 simulated neurons and 25.5 million directed connections, to convert Bitcoin price charts into neural signals.

The system feeds on Coinbase's BTC/USDC candlestick charts as RGB images, stimulating thousands of simulated neural signals. A fixed decoding layer reads the resulting spike patterns and translates them into buy, sell, or hold proposals.

Alex Wormuth, the developer behind Stonkfly, has publicly stated that he gave the fly brain $100 to trade Bitcoin and stimulated dopamine neurons when the fly makes a profit. The system places actual orders through Coinbase AgentKit.
