Fruit-Fly Nervous System Simulation Tackles Crypto Market Analysis

Stonkfly is an open-source simulation that uses a reconstructed male fruit-fly nervous system to analyze cryptocurrency market data. The project maps public BTC-USDC prices onto an RGB candlestick chart, which is then fed into the simulated connectome.

The model's architecture includes 166,700 neurons, 25,582,938 directed connections, and 124,177,617 synaptic contacts. This neural readout produces buy, sell or hold proposals based on simulated neural activity.

The simulation receives visual input from a rendered candlestick chart, rather than raw price numbers. The project's developers have implemented a reinforcement feedback mechanism that stimulates dopamine cells when the portfolio gains or loses value.

Stonkfly executes paper trades against a simulated $100 balance by default, and has not demonstrated profitable learning. While the project is an intriguing demonstration of how a mapped nervous system model can be connected to an application outside biology, it does not establish genuine trading ability or predictive skill.
