Fun CEO: On-Ramps and Bridges Will Be Dead Within a Year
A payments infrastructure startup called Fun is making waves in the crypto space with its bold claim that on-ramps and bridges will become obsolete within a year. According to Alex Fine, CEO of Fun, these 'tollbooths' between traditional finance and crypto are holding back adoption.
Fine argues that we're entering a new era of fiat-to-crypto conversions, one where purpose-built flows designed specifically for fintech companies will replace the current aggregators. He claims that Fun's deposit flows have delivered over 8x higher fiat volume compared to previous setups, and conversion rate improvements ranging from 3.4x to 8x over existing aggregators like MoonPay and Stripe.
The company closed a $72 million Series A round on May 1, 2026, co-led by Multicoin Capital and SignalFire, which it plans to use for expanding its engineering team and exploring potential acquisitions. Fun generates revenue purely from facilitating fiat-to-on-chain conversions, with no token or governance coin in sight.
