Fundstrat Sees 30% Swing Imminent in Bitcoin
Fundstrat Global Advisors' head of digital asset strategy, Sean Farrell, points to historically low volatility as a signal for a large price swing in Bitcoin. According to Farrell, Bitcoin's 30-day price swings are among the smallest on record, which often precedes larger moves in past cycles.
Across eight episodes of low volatility, Fundstrat found that the median absolute price move over the following 60 days was 30.2%. This signal points to the size of the next move, not its direction. A 30% swing off the current price of $64,000 would put Bitcoin near $83,200 on the upside or $44,800 on the downside.
The recent rally in Bitcoin was largely due to short covering, with a meaningful part of the bounce attributed to traders unwinding bearish positions rather than fresh buying. Rising real yields are considered a risk factor for Bitcoin, and could end its unusually calm trading range.
