Galactic Revives Prediction Market Plans with Kalshi Contracts
Galactic's prediction market plans have resurfaced after being stalled for over a year. The UK-based company, Galactic, had partnered with Sports Illustrated to launch SI Predict in March 2025, but it paused trading just four days later on July 29, 2025. TIME also announced its partnership with Galactic in November 2025, promising to launch a prediction market platform in early 2026, but that never materialized.
Galactic has now secured US introducing broker approval for Predictor, its U.S. subsidiary, which is a significant step towards reviving the media prediction market strategy. The company's development pages suggest that Kalshi contracts could underpin the revived push to embed trading directly in publishers' articles.
The new structure separates the roles of Predictor LLC as a registered introducing broker (IB) and Predictor.io as the consumer- and publisher-facing product it operates. This is a significant shift from the original SI Predict setup, which was a non-custodial crypto-based platform that operated event contracts on the Truth Network blockchain.
The regulatory rebuild has been a year-long process for Galactic, with the company announcing plans to pursue NFA registration alongside a partnership with an unnamed US futures commission merchant (FCM) in July 2025. The FCM was expected to be formally identified 'in the coming weeks,' but that never happened.
