Galaxy Digital Buys Texas Site for Second Data Center Campus
Galaxy Digital has acquired a 500-acre site in McGregor, Texas, for its second major data center campus. The site will be used to build an AI and high-performance computing campus, with the first phase offering 74 megawatts of capacity by 2028.
The company plans to finance its own substation and related improvements, rather than passing the costs on to local residents. This move is part of Galaxy Digital's expansion beyond its core crypto business, following the purchase of Helios in 2022, a site with over 1.6 gigawatts of power capacity.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mike Novogratz stated: 'The demand for compute is a structural shift, not a passing cycle, and we believe the right way to meet it is by building infrastructure that strengthens the communities that host it.'
