Galaxy Digital Expands AI Infrastructure with Texas Data Center Campus
Galaxy Digital, the company behind cryptocurrency trading and infrastructure, has announced plans to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in Texas. The expansion includes a new campus on approximately 500 acres in McGregor, McLennan County, which will support a second major data center investment.
The project marks an important milestone for Galaxy Digital as it transitions beyond cryptocurrency-related operations and focuses on high-performance computing and AI infrastructure. The company expects the new campus to add at least $130 million to the local tax base and create several hundred construction jobs before permanent operational positions become available.
Galaxy plans to construct a private electrical substation and fund required utility infrastructure upgrades, which will allow the project to avoid shifting costs to local electricity customers. The company also committed to using a closed-loop cooling system similar to its Helios campus, which recirculates water internally and limits overall water consumption.
The expansion is part of Galaxy's multi-campus strategy centered on AI infrastructure, which aims to meet growing demand for high-performance computing capacity. With the new campus in Texas, Galaxy will expand its presence beyond cryptocurrency-related operations and establish itself as a major player in the AI infrastructure market.
