Gallego Warns Rushed Vote Risks Derailing US Crypto Market Structure Legislation
Senator Ruben Gallego warned that rushing the Senate CLARITY Act vote could hinder US crypto market structure legislation. Speaking at the SALT Wyoming Blockchain Symposium on August 19, he urged lawmakers to continue negotiating rather than pushing for a fast vote.
The bill aims to create a federal framework for digital assets and divide oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Gallego emphasized that several steps remain before the bill is ready, including completing the Agriculture Committee portion, assembling the full package, and determining how to send it to the House.
He also expressed concern over unresolved disputes regarding ethics and stablecoin yield, stating 'A fast vote gets you a fast result, but I'm not sure it's the result you want.'
