Gallego Warns Rushing Crypto Clarity Act Vote Could Set Legislation Back
Senator Ruben Gallego has warned that rushing a vote on the crypto CLARITY Act could set the legislation back. The Arizona Democrat made his comments at the SALT Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in Wyoming on August 20. He expressed concerns about procedural hurdles, including the Senate's 60-vote threshold and provisions under the Agriculture Committee's jurisdiction.
Gallego emphasized that moving too quickly would push the bill further back. He also urged the crypto industry to support continued negotiations between Democrats and Republicans rather than pushing for an immediate vote.
The Senator criticized the White House for a lack of communication, stating that he and Republican Senator Thom Tillis submitted a compromise proposal on ethics provisions before Congress recessed but received no concrete response.
