Gardaí in Galway have made significant strides in their ongoing efforts to combat organised crime. As part of an investigation, officers from the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit executed search warrants at two properties in the city on Monday. The operation led to a male in his 40s being arrested and charged under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The searches uncovered substantial evidence of illicit activities, including cryptocurrency accounts worth approximately $900,000 that have been frozen pending further investigation. A bank account containing €25,000 was also seized, in addition to cash totalling €9,300 and various controlled substances with estimated values of €18,000.

The arrested individual has been scheduled to appear before Galway District Court on Thursday, August 27. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Gardaí to disrupt organised crime networks and bring those involved to justice.
