Garlinghouse Calls for Passage of CLARITY Act Ahead of Crucial Senate Vote
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has urged lawmakers to pass the CLARITY Act, calling it a crucial step towards making America the 'crypto capital of the world'. The bill would give more control over crypto trading to the CFTC and reduce the SEC's role in secondary markets.
Garlinghouse made his comments after President Donald Trump's White House innovation summit, where he was proud to be part of a room filled with leaders from both traditional finance and crypto industries. He also called on lawmakers to 'finish the job' and pass clear rules for the industry, which has been plagued by uncertainty.
The CLARITY Act faces a key Senate vote on September 15, where it needs at least 60 votes to move forward. If it passes, the Senate can begin debate and consider amendments before a final vote.
Notably, the National Sheriffs' Association has dropped its opposition to the bill, moving from an opposing stance to neutral. This shift follows the Major County Sheriffs of America taking a similar position in July.
