Garlinghouse Pushes for Passage of CLARITY Act Ahead of Key Senate Vote
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has expressed his support for the CLARITY Act, urging lawmakers to 'finish the job' on clear crypto rules. The bill, which would give the CFTC more control over crypto trading and reduce the SEC's role in secondary markets, is set to face a key Senate vote on September 15.
Garlinghouse made his comments after attending President Donald Trump's White House innovation summit. He praised the event for bringing together leaders from both traditional finance and cryptocurrency industries. 'Making America the crypto capital of the world is within reach, let's finish the job,' he said.
The CLARITY Act has been a contentious issue, with some groups opposing it due to concerns about decentralized finance and anti-money laundering rules. However, the National Sheriffs' Association has dropped its opposition to the bill, moving to a neutral position in a letter to Senate leaders John Thune and Charles Schumer.
