Gate.io Accused of Withholding Evidence in $1.7M Crypto Theft Case

Share

Crypto exchange Gate.io has been accused of withholding evidence and delaying a police investigation into a $1.7 million worth of crypto theft from user Jheioff's account.

Jheioff claims they were not alerted to the attack despite using phone verification, Google's two-step authenticator, and email verification. The user also asserts that Gate.io has still not provided the police with video facial data or risk control information.

Gate.io denies these allegations, stating that Jheioff is the one delaying the investigation. According to Gate.io, Jheioff was 'very slow' on the day of the incident and consistently refused assistance in filing a case and providing legal resources.
