Gemini Enables XRP Transfers in Singapore via XRP Ledger Network
Gemini, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has enabled native XRP transfers in Singapore via the XRP Ledger network. This update, which went live on August 25, 2026, allows verified users in Singapore to transfer balances directly to self-custody wallets and compatible external services.
The feature requires the use of an X-Address and a Destination Tag for deposits into shared accounts on the platform. Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder and CEO of Gemini, announced the update, which is part of the company's strategic restructuring executed in early 2026.
Gemini has consolidated its commercial operations around the US and Singapore markets after winding down operations in several countries, including the UK, EU, and Australia. The move is also aligned with the regulatory framework in Singapore, where Gemini Digital Payments secured in-principle approval for a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore in October 2024.
