Gemini Secures MPI License in Singapore, Continues Expansion
Crypto exchange Gemini has obtained a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), according to a statement on September 8. The license was granted to Gemini's Singapore subsidiary, Gemini Digital Payments Singapore Pte. Ltd. (GDPSPL).
Gemini has been providing services to customers in Singapore since 2020, and its President and Co-Founder Cameron Winklevoss said the license acquisition confirms the company's commitment to investing in Singapore.
Cameron Winklevoss stated that Gemini will continue to provide services to individual and institutional investors in Singapore. His brother and CEO of Gemini Tyler Winklevoss noted that Singapore's regulatory framework and its status as an international financial center make it a strategic location for the company.
