Gemini Suffers Wider-Than-Expected Loss Amid Weaker Trading Activity
Gemini's second-quarter earnings report revealed a wider-than-expected loss due to higher credit provisions, mark-to-market losses on Bitcoin holdings, and weaker trading activity.
The crypto platform posted adjusted EPS of -$0.89, missing the -$0.57 forecast by $0.32 or 56.1%. Revenue increased 37% year-over-year to $45.5 million.
Cameron Winklevoss, co-founder, stated that Gemini is building a broader platform beyond just a crypto exchange, aiming for a 'super app' offering predictions alongside spot Bitcoin, staking, credit cards, and U.S. equities.
