Gemini Wins Singapore Licence Amid Asia Expansion
Gemini has secured a Major Payment Institution (MPI) licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), solidifying its position in one of Asia's financial hubs.
The licence was granted to Gemini Digital Payments Singapore on September 8, allowing the exchange to operate as an approved payment services provider without transaction limits that smaller institutions may face.
Gemini already offers spot crypto trading, custody, and over-the-counter services in Singapore, but the MPI licence enables it to expand its offerings under a stronger regulatory framework.
Cameron Winklevoss, Gemini's president and co-founder, said: 'Securing the MPI licence from MAS validates our commitment and investment into Singapore.'
