Gen Z Crypto Ownership Soars to 51% Worldwide
A recent survey by Gemini reveals that over half of Gen Z adults worldwide now own or have owned cryptocurrency. The survey, conducted between May and July 2024, polled 6,000 adults across the United States, United Kingdom, France, Singapore, and Turkey.
The results show that among Gen Z respondents aged 18 to 29, 51% said they own or have previously owned cryptocurrency. This figure is significantly higher than the general population, which stands at 35%. In the U.S., Gen Z ownership matched 51%, ahead of Millennials at 49% and Gen X at 29%.
The survey also found that one in three U.S. Gen Z respondents would feel comfortable putting at least 5% of their portfolio into crypto, compared to 21% of the broader population. Additionally, nearly half of Gen Z respondents globally said they invest in crypto to generate income, and 48% said they were more likely to buy crypto because of access through exchange-traded funds.
