Gen Z Crypto Ownership Surges: 51% Now Hold or Have Held Cryptocurrency
A new survey by Gemini reveals that over half of Gen Z adults worldwide now own or have owned cryptocurrency. According to the findings, 51% of Gen Z respondents aged 18-29 said they own or have previously owned crypto, compared to 35% for the general population.
The survey, conducted between May and July 2024, polled 6,000 adults across the US, UK, France, Singapore, and Turkey. The results show that Gen Z is more likely to invest in crypto to generate income (48%) and are more open to buying crypto through exchange-traded funds (ETFs), with 48% saying they are more likely to do so.
Gen Z also showed a different attitude towards oversight, with only 31% strongly agreeing that the industry needs more government regulation. In contrast, 46% of the general population agrees with this statement.
