Genesis Block Puzzle Stumps Bitcoin Enthusiasts
A puzzle hidden in Bitcoin's Genesis Block has attracted attention from blockchain analysts and enthusiasts. Created on August 23, 2026, using information contained in the Genesis Block created by Satoshi Nakamoto, the puzzle is a challenge to solve.
The puzzle creator used human-readable text in Bitcoin Block 963,629 to generate a wallet with extremely low entropy, which he claimed required no backup. The creator has since been questioned about the puzzle's details, revealing that it was a multisig and both keys were derived independently from the Genesis Block using the same field.
Galaxy Research's Head of Research Alex Thorn is one of those working to solve the puzzle, which now has a jackpot of 142,779 sats (nearly $111). Thorn has been exploring different paths to derive the correct keys, but so far, no solution has been found.
