$GENIUS Act Stablecoin Rules Set for November Finalization
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is targeting November to finalize its $GENIUS Act stablecoin rules. This timeline aims to resolve regulatory uncertainty before the framework takes effect, which Congress has given regulators one year to establish.
OCC Comptroller Jonathan Gould shared the target during the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in Jackson Hole. The agency will consider industry feedback before completing its regulations, but officials have not revealed which provisions could change during the review.
The OCC's digital asset approval activity has increased eightfold under the current administration, according to Gould. The $GENIUS Act proposal was published in February and entered a 60-day public comment period that ended May 1.
