Genius Group Returns to Bitcoin Strategy with Preferred Stock
Genius Group has set its sights on rebuilding its Bitcoin treasury after selling off its entire reserve to pay off debt just months ago. The NYSE-listed education company aims to create parallel treasuries for Bitcoin and artificial intelligence, with a combined value of $1.6 billion by fiscal year 2031.
The company targets total assets of $2 billion over the same period, according to its plans. Genius Group sold off about 440 BTC in April to repay $8.5 million in debt, but now plans to use Perpetual Preferred Securities as its main funding source for future treasury purchases.
Chief Executive Roger James Hamilton said returns above the preferred dividend rate would add value for shareholders. The planned structure follows a funding approach used by public companies with Bitcoin strategies, which has raised more than $16 billion through perpetual preferred stock for its Bitcoin holdings.
