Genius Group Seeks to Rebuild Bitcoin Treasury Amid AI Ambitions
Genius Group, an education company based in Singapore, has overcome a key legal hurdle in its plan to expand its Bitcoin and artificial intelligence treasuries. The US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit lifted a preliminary injunction that had restricted Genius's ability to issue shares, raise capital, and purchase Bitcoin.
The ruling came just days after Genius announced a five-year capital plan targeting an $827 million Bitcoin treasury and an $800 million AI portfolio, with total assets projected to reach $2 billion by 2031. The company plans to use permanent capital to expand its exposure to both Bitcoin and AI, with preferred shares playing a central role in this strategy.
Genius is looking at Michael Saylor's Strategy as a model for raising capital without relying solely on common-stock issuance. The market value of Strategy's Bitcoin-backed preferred securities, such as STRC, now exceeds $13 billion, giving Genius a template for funding long-duration assets while limiting dilution to ordinary shareholders.
