Georgia Recovers Stolen Crypto in Cobb County Investment Scam
Georgia's White Collar and Cyber Crime Unit has recovered stolen cryptocurrency from an investment scam in Cobb County. According to Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, a fraudster contacted a victim on social media, claiming they shared mutual acquaintances.
The scammer then introduced the victim to an investment opportunity on a fake crypto trading platform that displayed fake returns and allowed modest withdrawals to build trust.
After the victim deposited hundreds of thousands of dollars, the platform indicated all funds were lost, and the perpetrator claimed the investment had vanished.
