Gerber Questions Bitcoin's Everyday Practicality Despite Endless Promises
Ross Gerber, CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management, expressed skepticism about Bitcoin's everyday practicality. He questioned whether it has any real-world use cases beyond certain products.
In an X post, Gerber stated that using gold is 'probably easier' than using Bitcoin in most places. He criticized the cryptocurrency industry for limited value creation, pointing out that stablecoins are a prime example.
Gerber noted that he hasn't sold any Bitcoin and took a dig at Michael Saylor's firm Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:MSTR). Scott Melker, a leading cryptocurrency investor and podcast host, replied to Gerber's skepticism by highlighting the use of cryptocurrency-backed Mastercard Inc. (NYSE:MA) and Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) cards.
Gerber also expressed concerns about large Bitcoin mining companies pivoting their hardware and capacity towards AI compute rather than pure-play BTC mining. He stated that 'can't be a good sign for Bitcoin' and that GPUs have a more important role in AI compute than managing a blockchain.
