Gerber Questions Bitcoin's Utility, Cites Gold as More Practical
Ross Gerber, CEO and wealth manager of Gerber Kawasaki, questioned the practical utility of Bitcoin in his latest post on X. He pointed out that despite years of promises from advocates about payments, financial inclusion, and a new monetary system, gold remains more accessible for most people in most places.
Gerber argued that the usability of Bitcoin is still largely theoretical and that its use cases have not been fully realized. He noted that even the most cited example of crypto's real-world utility, stablecoins, may not be sufficient justification for the broader monetary vision of Bitcoin's supporters.
In his post, Gerber also made a pointed comparison to Michael Saylor, who has been an institutional advocate for Bitcoin but has sold some of his holdings to fund dividend payments. Gerber stated that he hasn't sold any Bitcoin, unlike Saylor, and is simply asking questions about its utility.
