Gerber Questions Bitcoin's Utility: 'Gold Easier to Use in Most Places'
Bitcoin has faced renewed criticism from investment adviser Ross Gerber, who questioned its practical utility on August 16. Gerber argued that physical gold remains easier to use in many places.
Gerber's firm, Gerber Kawasaki, had previously partnered with Gemini to provide digital asset exposure to clients and Gerber himself had spoken positively about Bitcoin for years.
However, his tone has become increasingly skeptical in 2026. In an X post on August 16, he wrote that it was 'probably easier to use gold than bitcoin in most places still' despite the claims of its monetary use cases.
Gerber also questioned what lasting products the crypto industry had built and criticized the lack of real-world applications for Bitcoin.
