Germany Strengthens Grip on EU Crypto Regulations with New Provider Licenses
Germany's dominance in the European Union's regulatory framework for crypto-assets, known as MiCA, continues to grow. The country has secured a robust lead with a fresh batch of licensed providers. According to the latest ESMA registry update, Germany now counts 79 registered crypto-asset service providers.
The addition of six new cooperative banks to the official registry raises the global total of authorized crypto-asset service providers to 331. These banks are Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR-Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried-Überwald, and Volksbank Backnang.
France remains in second place with 35 authorizations, while the Netherlands sits third with 29. BaFin attributed the high number of authorizations to the size of Germany's financial sector and the number of credit institutions enabled to offer crypto-asset services.
