Giancarlo: Crypto Innovation Won't Wait For Clarity Act
Former CFTC Commissioner Chris Giancarlo has spoken out against the crypto industry's focus on the CLARITY Act, saying that innovation in digital assets will continue regardless of the bill's passage.
Giancarlo, known as 'Crypto Dad' for his forward-thinking stance on blockchain technology, drew a parallel to the early internet, pointing out that it flourished without a dedicated statute. He believes that similar momentum can be seen in the development of blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
The CLARITY Act aims to clarify the regulatory status of digital assets by designating certain tokens as commodities under CFTC jurisdiction rather than securities under SEC oversight. Giancarlo's comments suggest that while regulation is valuable, it is not a prerequisite for technological advancement.
