Gillibrand Demands Enforceable Ban on Trump's Crypto Profits
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is renewing her call for a firm prohibition on President Trump, his spouse, and senior officials issuing or profiting from cryptocurrency while in office.
The demand comes after a new Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 63% of Americans believe it is inappropriate for the president to have profited from cryptocurrency since his return to power.
The survey also revealed that nearly seven in ten Americans, including 48% of Republicans, said they believe the president allows his private business interests to influence his decisions in office.
Crypto-related income, largely from World Liberty Financial and the Trump memecoin, is reported at over $1.4 billion last year. Senator Gillibrand argues that any digital asset market structure bill must include an enforceable ban on presidential self-dealing to prevent conflicts of interest.
