Gillibrand Seeks Crypto Ban for Presidential Officials Amid Trump Profits Controversy
US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for an amendment to the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would ban presidents and their spouses from profiting from cryptocurrency while in office.
Gillibrand, a Democrat from New York, made this demand as a condition of her support for the legislation, citing concerns over ethics and potential conflicts of interest.
A Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 63% of respondents considered President Trump's crypto profits inappropriate, while 32% believed they were acceptable.
The poll also showed that 69% of respondents thought Trump allows private business interests to influence his presidential decisions, including nearly half of Republicans.
