Glamsterdam Delay Throws Ethereum's 2027 Roadmap into Chaos
The Ethereum Foundation has announced that its next major upgrade, Glamsterdam, will now target the fourth quarter of 2026. This is a shift from earlier expectations, which had predicted it would be implemented in the first half of this year.
Glamsterdam introduces breaking changes for some applications and requires updates before the upgrade goes live. To prepare for this, developers have launched Platåberget, a public testing ground for Glamsterdam that will run for several months before moving to Ethereum's Sepolia and Hoodi testnets.
Meanwhile, Ethereum researchers are already shaping what comes next with Hegotá, which is expected in 2027. There are currently 66 proposals under consideration for this upgrade, but only a fraction of them are likely to be implemented due to limited capacity.
