Glamsterdam Upgrade Delayed to Q4 2026, Public Testnet Launched
Ethereum developers have delayed the Glamsterdam mainnet upgrade from the first half of 2026 to Q4 2026. This delay comes as the development team launched Platåberget, a public testnet dedicated exclusively to Glamsterdam.
The Ethereum Foundation emphasized the urgency of early preparation for wallet operators, blockchain indexers, and various tooling that may not function properly after the upgrade. They advised developers to review EIP-8037, which introduces state gas dimension, as well as EIP-2780 and EIP-8038, which address decomposed costs.
Glamsterdam will bring significant changes to Ethereum's layers, including EIP-7732, which enshrines proposer-builder separation directly into the protocol. This change is expected to lay the groundwork for raising the gas limit from 60 million to 200 million and expanding the maximum deployed contract size.
