Glassnode Opens Up On-Chain Data Access with AI-Powered x402 Integration
Blockchain analytics firm Glassnode has integrated x402, an open payment protocol that enables autonomous AI agents to request and pay for on-chain data directly using USDC. This move simplifies the process of accessing blockchain metrics, removing the need for API keys, subscriptions, or user accounts.
With x402, AI agents can query key Bitcoin metrics like MVRV or entity-adjusted URPD by issuing simple prompts and pay a small fee in USDC, typically less than $0.10.
Glassnode has two access paths for users to enable their AI agents for x402 payments: Coinbase for Agents or Base MCP, a free on-chain wallet that allows users to add USDC from any compatible wallet or exchange.
The adoption of x402 by Glassnode highlights the growing trend towards 'agentic commerce,' where autonomous software systems transact directly. This shift could significantly impact how traders and analysts interact with blockchain data, enabling faster decision-making and broader accessibility.
