Gnosis Chain Approves Path to Ethereum ZK Rollup

GnosisDAO has approved a proposal to transition Gnosis Chain into a ZK-proven Ethereum rollup. The vote, which collected 123,158 GNO tokens in favor, sets the direction for the chain's future but does not guarantee a smooth migration.

The proposal, known as GIP-153, unlocks approximately 350,000 staked GNO tokens, potentially shifting the token's economics and governance role within the network.

Gnosis Chain will continue to use xDAI for gas payments, maintaining a familiar experience for its users. The team now faces significant engineering work, including technical design, test environments, user migration planning, and ecosystem communication.
