Gold and Silver Prices Surge Amid Growing Debasement Concerns

Mike Maharrey, host of the Money Metals Midweek Memo podcast, shared his own investment regret. He received one Bitcoin as payment for a service in 2015 or 2016 and sold most of it to buy a used laptop when its value was around $400. This taught him that regrets can be valuable if they help someone avoid making the same mistake twice.

In this context, Maharrey highlighted the surge in gold and silver prices over the past month. Gold gained approximately 14.6% from $4,045 per ounce on July 31 to more than $4,600, while silver moved even faster, increasing by over 20% from $57.66 per ounce.

A Royal Mint survey found that one-third of British adults regretted not investing in gold during the previous five years, and another 30% regretted missing the rise in silver. Despite these gains, only 8% of UK adults held any savings in gold, while just 3% owned silver.
