Gold Soars as Geopolitics Boost Safe-Haven Demand, XRP Struggles with Bearish Signals

Gold and XRP are going in opposite directions right now. Gold has surged to its highest price in weeks, reaching $4,321 per ounce on August 6, while XRP remains stuck near $1.

The surge in gold prices can be attributed to geopolitical risks boosting safe-haven demand. Hopes of a US-Iran deal have eased tension, but gold is still benefiting from its status as a hedge against conflict uncertainty and monetary policy concerns.

On the other hand, XRP is struggling with bearish technical signals persisting. The cryptocurrency's price has dropped by about 65% over the past year, and it's currently trading below both its 20-day EMA and 50-day EMA.

CryptoQuant's Amr Taha reported that more XRP users have been withdrawing funds from major exchanges since early August, which is often seen as a bullish sign. However, until risk appetite for crypto improves, it's likely that gold will continue to outperform XRP.
