Gold Soars on China Demand as Bitcoin Falters

Gold prices have risen to six-week highs due to increased demand from China. The precious metal has gained 2.8% in value, reaching $4,213 per ounce.

This surge is linked to reported inflows into Chinese gold-backed exchange-traded funds, with Bloomberg attributing the push higher to Chinese buying.

Contrary to this strength, Bitcoin's price remains largely unchanged near the $64,000 level. This has been accompanied by a broader 'buy the dip' behavior in traditional markets, with US equities pushing to new record highs.

The World Gold Council notes that demand for gold has remained resilient despite geopolitical and economic uncertainties, while ongoing purchases by the People's Bank of China have offered additional support for sentiment.
