Goldman Sachs CEO Endorses CLARITY Act Amid Banking Regulatory Dispute

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has come out in support of the CLARITY Act, a bill that aims to create a unified US crypto market-structure framework.

The bill, which has been years in the making, would allow crypto platforms to offer yield on dollar-pegged stablecoins, subject to capped payments and additional disclosure requirements.

Solomon's endorsement of the CLARITY Act breaks with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, who has expressed concerns that the bill permits crypto firms to pay interest on deposits without necessary banking regulations.

The divergence between Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan reflects the different business models of the two banks. Goldman relies less on retail deposits and more on fees from market-making, underwriting, and digital asset initiatives, making regulatory clarity in crypto crucial for its growth.
