GRAI Partners with Nevada Regulators to Share Regulatory Expertise

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), marking the first time GRAI has partnered with a US gambling regulator. This cooperation agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of regulatory knowledge and experience between the two authorities.

The partnership comes as Ireland continues to roll out its updated gambling regulatory system, which includes the recent launch of licensing for online and remote betting operators. The rise of online gambling and cross-border services has increased the need for closer cooperation between jurisdictions.

The NGCB brings decades of experience in regulating gambling, with Nevada having legalised gambling since 1931. GRAI, on the other hand, is still in the early stages of building its regulatory framework. The agreement will allow GRAI to draw on the NGCB's expertise as it expands oversight of remote gambling services.

The MoU covers more than just licensing, with both regulators set to share information on regulatory approaches, market developments, and legal issues affecting both jurisdictions. Industry observers have noted that sharing regulatory experience can strengthen oversight, improve responsible gambling efforts, and help regulators learn from each other's work.
