Gram Wallet Launch Sends Token Price Soaring on Telegram
Telegram's native Gram Wallet has gone live for a select group of users, sending the GRAM token price soaring. As of press time, GRAM was trading near $1.40, up about 2.07% over 24 hours.
According to Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, access will expand gradually across the messaging platform as the company expects the wallet to reach its billion-plus users over the next few weeks.
The Gram Wallet is a self-custodial wallet designed to sit directly inside Telegram. It supports transfers, payments, and purchases within the Telegram ecosystem, including buying Telegram Collectibles like usernames and digital gifts. Validators have approved the smart contract that powers Gram Wallet, allowing developers to update the wallet without requiring users to move funds.
The rollout follows Toncoin's recent rebrand to Gram as part of a wider effort to reposition the token around Telegram's crypto ecosystem. The company is also separating its crypto products into two distinct services: Gram Wallet for payments and transfers, and Walt for broader investment and trading tools.
