Grayscale Abandons Plans for Cardano, Hedera, Polkadot ETFs
Grayscale Investments has withdrawn its proposed Cardano (ADA), Hedera (HBAR), and Polkadot (DOT) Trust ETF registration filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The move marks a sudden setback for investors hoping to gain regulated exposure to these altcoins through traditional financial markets.
The withdrawals were submitted on August 7, according to company filings, ending the latest phase of Grayscale's plans to bring ADA, HBAR, and DOT into the U.S. ETF market. This development has attracted significant attention across the cryptocurrency market, as Grayscale has been a major asset manager pushing crypto products into regulated U.S. investment markets.
The proposed Cardano ETF, Hedera ETF, and Polkadot ETF would have offered investors an easier way to obtain exposure to ADA, HBAR, and DOT without directly purchasing and managing the underlying cryptocurrencies. However, Grayscale chose to withdraw the registration statements before the products became effective or sold shares.
