Grayscale Brings Spot Zcash ETF to NYSE Arca Amid Soaring Demand
Grayscale has launched the first spot Zcash ETF on NYSE Arca, marking a significant milestone for the crypto market. The new Grayscale Zcash ETF (ZCSH) trades under the ticker ZCSH and is the successor to the Grayscale Zcash Trust.
The fund has an annual sponsorship fee of 2.5%, which is higher than many other major Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Coinbase Custody Trust Company serves as the custodian for the underlying ZEC tokens, while the Bank of New York acts as the transfer agent.
The listing of ZCSH is significant beyond just adding another digital asset to the U.S. ETF market. Until now, sector expansion focused primarily on assets like BTC and ETH, followed by other large-cap cryptocurrencies.
Zcash presents a unique regulatory challenge due to its privacy-focused architecture. The network supports both transparent and shielded transactions, where specific information can be hidden using cryptographic mechanisms.
The arrival of a regulated ETF does not eliminate these questions but changes how investors gain exposure. Rather than holding ZEC directly and managing private keys or crypto wallets, investors can now purchase shares of the fund through a traditional brokerage account.
