Grayscale Edges Closer to Launching US Spot Zcash ETF
Grayscale has made significant progress in its quest to launch the first U.S. spot exchange-traded fund tied directly to Zcash. The asset manager filed its fifth amendment with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, bringing its existing Zcash Trust closer to a conventional ETF structure.
This means that investors could gain regulated market access to the privacy-focused cryptocurrency through traditional brokerage accounts. Grayscale plans to rename the trust The Zcash ETF and list it on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCH.
The proposed fund will charge an annual sponsor fee of 2.5% and issue shares continuously at prices linked partly to $ZEC. Bank of New York Mellon will handle transfer-agent duties for the fund, while Coinbase Custody Trust Company will safeguard its Zcash holdings.
Grayscale's existing crypto ETFs for major assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and XRP demonstrate growing institutional interest in regulated exposure to digital assets. A potential 200,000 $ZEC contribution from a Digital Currency Group subsidiary could further bolster the proposed fund.
